I just broke up like 8 hours with my ex and he straightly text me, he said he was sorry to hear that. At first, I didn't care what he said and what he felt to me. I just keep replying and that went on about 3 months. He said he loves me and he cares about me, so I gave him one little chance :p and we still on till now ;)
